A first for OutdoorLads this wellbeing weekend offers a chance to escape the rat race, swtich off your phone if you wish and dedicate some time to your own personal nourishment. There are a number of classes included in this event led by Richard Warner, a highly experienced and trained teacher of Yoga, Tai Chi and Chi Kung - from beginner to experienced, he is able to cater for all.

It is worth mentioning early on in the event details that The Retreat is a dry weekend experience - that means your favourite tipple(s) will have to wait until afterwards.

Nestled in the beautiful Essex Countryside, just beyond the sleepy hamlet of Little Baddow is The Retreat Farm (retreatfarm.co.uk).  A place to come and to relax and indulge in 'self' for a weekend with your fellow OutdoorLads.

The weekend will flow like this....

Friday evening (from 5pm)

Members arrive and pitch their tents.  As with a hostel event we will have a traditional Friday evening buffet together, so please bring items of food with you for a picnic so we can all sit and enjoy the sunset together - enough food for 2-3 people will be a sufficient spread once everyone has contributed.  Should the weather be less favourable we have the private use of a cosy barn, with cushions and soft furnishings for relaxation.

Saturday

7am - 8am - our private marquee will be home for our 2 days of self, starting with a mindfulness class, "An Introduction To Self Compassion"

8am - 9.30 am - a mixed ability Yoga class

9.30 - 10.30 - Continental breakfast in the barn  (this is provided as part of the event)

11am - 3pm - A optional day walk around the local countryside - about 6 miles.  This will include a pub lunch stop (menu choices will be required nearer the time).  However if you wish to relax in the fresh air with a book, take some personal time or enjoy some quiet reflection you are very welcome to do so.

Please let me know if you wish to take advantage of the pub lunch as I will need to book a table.

5.30 - 7pm - A mixed ability class based on the martial arts of Tai Chi and Chi Kung

7.30 - 9pm - evening meal.  You need to arrange this part for yourself.  Please bring what you wish to eat - we have ample fridges for food storage.  A charcoal bbq will be made available to us to if you wish to use it.

Post evening meal - A camp fire will be provided so we can sit, reflect, relax, socialise and chat.

Sunday (start timings to be agreed by attendees the night before)

A morning activity to be agreed by the group - yoga, tai chi, chi kung...we can discuss around the camp fire - although I am told open air Yoga on the nearby airstrip in the morning sunshine is particularly amazing

Breakfast - as Saturday, continental and provided as part of the event

Post breakfast - A Good Bye Movement Meditation session - some calm before the road/rail

Clear down and leave campsite as we found it by 12 o'clock

A few important things to consider...

As already mentioned, this is a dry campsite event so no alcohol is permitted at all whilst enjoying The Retreat Farm site. Whereas OutdoorLads events often include a good old knees-up and a few sherries, which is great, that isn't what this event is about so please bear this in mind.

The campsite is not exclusive to ODL - however we will have our own campsite area and exclusive use of the our own marquee for the classes, the barn and food prep area and our own toilet & shower facilities.

Parking  - ample parking for all onsite. I will be there to direct you on the day

If you have any questions please contact the event leader.
