A stunning walk through the final dramatic stages of the Wye Gorge as it winds it's way from historic Tintern Abbey down to the Severn at spectacular Chepstow. This is a really iconic walk that you'll love!
Meeting at Tintern Abbey ready for 10.30 prompt set off, we will be catching the 10.41 bus to Chepstow from outside the Royal George Hotel, just a couple of hundred yards up from the Abbey. Buses are every 2 hours, so please don't miss it!
From Chepstow we take in views of the castle and the Old Bridge before crossing the river next to Brunel's mighty Wye Viaduct. With great views looking back over the Severn Bridge and estuary, we will join Offa's Dyke path up the eastern clifftops of the Wye Gorge. Broadrock affords some great views across the gorge to the Lover's Leap precipice and the jagged Wynd Cliff.
Following Offa's Dyke, the ancient divide between England and Wales, through deep leafy woods to the Devil's Pulpit, we then drop down to cosy Tintern where we will have the chance to enjoy a pub, a cream tea, or maybe even a tour of the iconic Tintern Abbey before heading homewards.
