The Somerset Space Walk is a true scale model of our Solar System with the planets placed along the Bridgwater to Taunton Canal.
This is an easy linear walk along the canal tow path and an ideal winter walk.
The walk starts from Bridgwater Train Station where we will quickly pick up the tow path and the outer Solar System. Along the route each of the planets are marked as a life size model of the Solar System. We will reach the centre of the Solar System and the Sun at Maunsel Lock.
The canal is located in lowland near to the Somerset Levels and has many areas designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of the diversity of rare birds and plants which thrive in this unique area. As it meanders between willow lined banks, the Quantock and Blackdown Hills can be seen with Exmoor visible on the skyline.
Come along a learn about the history of the Canal and waterways of West Somerset.
