West Loch Lomond cycle - Balloch to Tarbet

4 places left
Join us for a cycle along the west Loch Lomond cycle path, 17 miles each way (34 in total) between Balloch train station and Tarbet.
Planned route - https://www.seelochlomond.co.uk/discover/west-loch-lomond-cycle-path
The path is mostly flat, with occasional undulations. Mostly on segregated paths, with some minor roads here or there.
*****Due to kilt walk finishing in balloch, we will divert towards end of cycle via great segregated cycle path on A818 to Helensburgh, this is a lovely path, though is a steep and prolonged climb, then a lovely down hill run into Helensburgh,we will stop a few times on way up the hill****
We start along the old track bed of the loch Lomond pier branch, past the Maid of the Loch, passing the Loch Lomond shores mall, Luss (where those of certain age will remember "take the high road" was filmed) and Duck Bay marina, with amazing views of the loch and Ben Lomond.
There is a coffee shop at Tarbet.
There is also a railway station there if anybody wishes to stop cycling though there is an infrequent service on a Sunday.
This is an out and back route, (see note above about diversion at the end) suitable for most bikes, though the path is getting tired with some encroaching tree routes under the tarmac so a bigger tired bike may be best.
If you're driving to the start, I will take you back to start point.
