Join us as we revisit one of the most popular camp events on the OutdoorLads calendar.

Shell Island, located in North Wales between Harlech and Barmouth and boasting stunning views of the unspoilt Welsh countryside, including Cardigan Bay and the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

Shell Island, known as Mochras locally, is a peninsula created in the early 1800's when the nearby River Artro was diverted from its original course (south of the island) to being above the island and so creating a watercourse effectively separating the island and the historic settlement that resided there.

The island itself is famous for (amazingly!) the number and variety of shells that wash up on its shores from the powerful tides of the Irish Sea.

There will be plenty of opportunity for walking, both along the coast and into the nearby Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. Plus, we can go paddling in the sea or just have a leisurely stroll along the miles of golden sand. On Saturday evening we will aim to have a fire on the beach.

There are also plenty of places to visit nearby, including Harlech Castle, the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog railways from Porthmadog, The Italianate style village of Portmeirion is nearby, or you could take spectacular rail journey along the coast to Machynlleth.

For more details visit the Shell Island website here.

There's a bit going on this weekend in the area, with a Barmouth Panorama walk on Saturday, and the Dolgellau Original Precipice walk on Sunday. Please sign up if you wish to do one, or both of these events. There will also be other activities available.

There will be a telegram group set up nearer the time in order to facilitate car sharing and photo’s etc.

This is your weekend ! Do as much or as little as you like.
