Starting in the small village of Slaidburn, in the Forest of Bowland, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty we will make our way across the fields to Stocks Reservoir.

Stocks Reservoir is situated at the head of the Hodder Valley and was created by flooding the Dalehead Valley and surrounding farmland, including the hamlet of Stocks in Bowland in 1932 to provide water for Blackpool and surrounding areas. During the summer, if the water is low, you can sometimes get a view of the top of St James's Church  in the flooded village.

We will walk round the reservoir taking in part of the  stunning Gisburn Forest and the Board House, making a full circle of the reservoir. We will then head back down to Slaidburn using a different route.

After the walk there is the option of refreshments at the Hark to Bounty Inn in Slaidburn.

If you want to make a weekend of it, I am also leading another walk in the area, starting in Dunsop Bridge on Saturday 5th August 2017 (http://outdoorlads.com/event/forest-bowland-dunsop-bridge )
