Outdoor First Aid Course for Leaders - Bristol
1 people attending
11 places left
This 16-hour outdoor first aid course deals with issues involved with the long term care of casualties in a remote setting. It is often referred to as a Wilderness First Aid or a Remote First Aid.
The outdoor first aid course includes primary and secondary surveys of a casualty, we also look at first aid equipment and how you may adapted and improvise your own equipment to support your first aid kit.
A lot more emphasis is placed on incident management and relaying information to rescue teams in the outdoors. We assume minimal outdoor equipment is available and there are plenty of opportunities to practice first aid.
This 2 day (16 hour) course is recognised by the National Governing Bodies such as the Mountain Leader Training, British Canoe Union, British Cycling, British Association of Snowsport Instructors etc. Certificates are issued through the OfQual Awarding Organisation
This 16-hour outdoor first aid training course is a requirement for Mountain leaders, outdoor climbing leaders, and mountain bike leaders. Those looking to become leaders of those event types, or who are those leader types but need a refresher, will be given priority on this course for places. (If you're unsure if you qualify - just drop us an e-mail to support@outdoorlads.com and we'll discuss with you.) Leaders of other event types are also welcome to join and this is great experience - just be aware if over subscribed, we may need to prioritise others. This course is exclusively for leaders and those who have applied to become a leader.
OutdoorLads will pay your course fee - a £15 fee applies to secure your place, refunded when you have completed it. You are responsible for your own travel, food and accommodation costs. The course lasts for two days, starting early each morning and finishing in the evening each day and you are required to attend both days.
Please note that places on this are for leaders, and those who have already applied to become leaders. If you have any doubts, please contact the OutdoorLads office to discuss.
