Wokingham Indoor Bouldering - All Abilities Welcome!
3 people attending
5 places left
Join OutdoorLads for an evening of indoor bouldering in Wokingham!
Bouldering is a style of climbing that involves short routes, called "problems", which can be tackled without the need for ropes and harnesses. This makes it an ideal place to start if you are new to climbing. The routes emphasise technique and problem solving so it's a workout for your brain as well as your body. As a result, bouldering is a very sociable activity - giving you the opportunity to catch-up and meet new people as you try out problems together.
Entry prices for the centre can be found here: https://www.oakwoodclimbingcentre.com/info-2/
New to bouldering?
The only equipment you need to get started is a pair of climbing shoes and these can be hired from the wall. The event leader will be on-hand to get your started and give a few points on technique. So you'll quickly be climbing with the rest of the group.
Registering with the climbing centre
Before attending you must register with the climbing centre:
https://www.oakwoodclimbingcentre.com/pre-registration-2/ (The "PUBLIC USER" option)
This will direct you to watch an induction video and, on the day, you will be able to sign in as an independent climber.
The event leader can provide advice however they are not formally supervising. All participants must take responsibility for their own safety and are expected to follow the rules of the centre at all times.
IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.

What to bring
The only equipment you really need for bouldering is a pair of climbing shoes. If you don't have your own then these can be hired from the centre for a small fee. Prices for shoe hire can be found here.
Cubby holes are available for storing bags etc. Lockers are also available however you will need your own padlock.
It is best to wear clothes that allow you to move freely so think shorts or tracksuit bottoms rather than jeans. Jewellery such as watches, rings or bracelets should be removed for safety reasons.
Food & drink
We don't have a planned break but encourage everyone to rest and rehydrate throughout the session as needed. Drinks and snacks are available to purchase at the centre, and water fountains are available for refilling water bottles.
