A mid-winter weekend in beautiful Wharfedale, in the Yorkshire Dales. The timing of the weekend gives us as much chance of some snow as anytime, but meteorology is outside OurdoorLads' control. Fingers crossed!
We'll be staying at an independent hostel in the centre of our village, a building full of charm and plenty of space.
We'll have plenty of walk options from the doorstep and we'll take account of the weather conditions before deciding on our route. With a bit of luck we'll have a couple of leaders to give us some walk options.
There'll be the usual socialising and buffet on the Friday night, a good walk on Saturday, hearty food Saturday evening and potentially a short walk on Sunday after cleaning and clearing the hostel.
Accessibility: There is no statement of accessibility for this location's web-page but all bedrooms are on the the first floor by way of stairs only. If you need to know what further access is like in order to book a place, please contact Rob the event leader asap.
Dogs: Only guide and assistance dogs are allowed in this venue. Please alert the leader if this applies to you.
Local Facilities: There is a well-stocked village shop a few meters from the hostel, a few pubs, and, subject to mid-winter opening (or not) a tea room and ice cream shop.

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
What to bring
It will be mid-winter, so make sure you bring full waterproofs, waterproof walking boots, gloves, hat and spare, warm and thin layers. It's a good idea to bring, in your rucksack sack, a waterproof bag to keep spare layers and spare gloves and hat in case they get wet.
If it's proper wintry weather, we could experience sub zero temperatures, coupled with a stiff wind would make it feel well below freezing.
If you can, bring a head torch (or a hand torch) as it will be getting dark early. This could be useful if we are returning after the early sunset, or just going to one of the local pubs in the evening.
Bedding is provided but feel free to bring an extra pillow for your own comfort, and bring your own towel.
Food & drink
Bring something to share at the Friday night buffet. Homemade always goes down well but as we're all busy, all food is welcomed. Bring your own food for lunch on the Saturday walk, any drink you might want at the hostel.
Breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday are included in the event price, as are tea and coffee throughout the weekend and a hearty dinner on Saturday night (make sure your dietary requirements are up to date!).
