14 km (9 miles), 500 m ascent. Some section may be very muddy!

The Cown Edge Way is a linear walking route in South Eastern Greater Manchester starting in Hazel Grove rising to 410m at Cown Edge Rocks and finishing at Gee Cross.

We will walk the middle section of the route covering the section between Mellor and Chisworth which includes the highlight of Cown & Coombs Edge.

However to make this a circular walk we willl have a scenic 4km route back over Ludworth Moors to return to the start point.

Highlights of the walk include Mellor Church, Robin Hood Picking Stones and Coombs Edge with excellent views across most of Greater Manchester and Cheshire to the west and Bleaklow and Kinder to the east.

Well behaved dogs are welcome.
