West Leake Hills - Day Walk
11 people attending
9 places left
Despite attaining a modest height of only 313 feet (95m), the West Leake Hills give extensive views across the Trent valley towards the City of Nottingham and over much of South Nottinghamshire.
The countryside here is gently rolling and the paths and tracks are generally clear and easy to follow. The route of this walk passes through the attractive villages of East and West Leake with their contrasting churches.
Waitlist: If this event is fully booked and you want to attend, just add yourself to the waitlist, because places inevitably become available closer to the date.

What to bring
This walk whilst fairly gentle is 11.5 miles (19km) therefore I would still recommend good walking boots are necessary, however you won't get sent home on this occasion if you're wearing trainers. The walk is steep and can be muddy.
The recommended minimum kit for this event is as follows;
- Walking Boots
- Socks
- Gaiters (optional)
- Walking Shorts/Trousers (not jeans)
- Waterproof Jacket
- Mid Layer (e.g. Fleece)
- Warm Hat
- Gloves
- Rucksack
- Food & Water (at least 3.5 pints / 2 litre)
Whilst we may come across a shop in East Leake or West Leake lunch will be before we reach there, I recommend you bring a flask with a warm drink and put your lunch in a container so that it doesn't get squashed or soggy. The high(ish) places on this walk may be windy bringing an extra chill, you will need to layer up your clothing and at this time of year we might be putting layers on then removing them to regulate our temperature.
Food & drink
Bring a packed lunch and water (at least 3.5 pints / 2 litres).
