Join us on this sociable leisure cycle around Manchester and Salford's trails and waterways.
The neighbouring cities of Manchester and Salford, sharing a great industrial heritage, now play host to the more recently developed Media City in Salford Quays and Sports City in Eastlands.
This 18 mile circular route takes us along the Fallowfield Loop to Chorlton, where we'll pick up National Cycle Network (NCN) Route number 55 through to Salford Quays. From here, there is a chance to take in spectacular views along the Manchester Ship Canal as we make our way into Manchester City Centre. Then we'll ride along the Ashton Canal tow path to Sports City, before continuing along National Cycle Network Route number 60 back to the Fallowfield Loop.
Pace and Terrain
This will be a leisurely cycle suitable for all levels of fitness. We'll be riding for about 2 hours at a gentle pace of 8-10mph. The pace can be adjusted to suit the slowest rider, no one will get left behind. The overall event timing allows for the natural stops and starts of any ride, and possibly a snack break, likely in the City Centre. The route is relatively flat and we will be mostly off road, although there will be a few on-road stretches along the way.
If you're not a regular cyclist, please make sure your bike is in good condition - check the tyres are well inflated, chain is oiled, and you've got a spare inner tube, drinks and snacks with you.
Sunday Roast
The ride will be followed by an amazing Sunday Lunch, with huge portions served by the super friendly staff at Manchester's destination cycle cafe, restaurant, bar and community hangout. There are limited places for the meal - please sign up separately at Sunday lunch social in Manchester | OutdoorLads
