Sugar Loaf and Skirrid
12 people attending
3 places left
This walk covers Sugar Loaf and Skirrid with views of the beautiful Welsh valleys. We begin with Skirrid before descending steeply down into the valley below. The walk then passes through farmland and a small forest near a stream. Then we start the climb up Sugar Loaf. Views of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National park from many angles. After descending we head through a spooky forest and over Deri. The final leg involves more fields and views of Skirrid that we walked over in the morning. This a hill walk and an introduction to walking in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons)
If you have a head torch - please bring in case we run a bit late

What to bring
Water: bring around two litres
Medicines: if you have hay fever, diabetes, minor ailments etc.
Day rucksack: typically 20-30 litres, they are comfortable to wear and allow you to use your arms freely
Boots: Waterproof and breathable and designed for hiking. NOT suitable for trainers. There will be muddy sections.
Socks: proper walking socks will keep your feet dry and help prevent blisters

Waterproof jacket: essential when hiking in all but the calmest of weather, breathable fabrics are more comfortable and dry
