Social Ride to Sports City and Eccles

Join Paul on this steady 16 mile ride around Manchester and Salford.
This ride is perfect if you have done a bit of cycling before and now want to build up or maintain your fitness levels. It's fairly flat all the way round, but there are one or two gentle hills for you to climb at your own pace, with a chance to regroup and recover at the top if needed.
The route consist of a mixture of cycle paths and some fairly busy roads, so it's best suited to hybrid or road bikes. You're also very welcome to attend on a mountain bike if you are comfortable riding for around 90 minutes at the steady pace of 10 to 12 mph we'll be aiming for. The overall event timing is longer than this to allow for the natural stops and starts of the ride, plus some time for us to socialise at the end.
Starting from the outskirts of Manchester City Centre, we will ride out to Salford, passing through Rusholme and Sports City. We'll aim to cycle non-stop all the way round. If needed, we can have a short rest / toilet break at Broughton or Salford, before we continue out to Eccles. Then we'll head back into Manchester for a drink and maybe a bite to eat.
Weather Conditions
Cold, wet and windy weather conditions aren't conducive to sociable cycling. So, if the weather forecast for the day indicates extreme conditions, the event may be postponed with as much notice as possible provided to participants.
