A leisurely 4 mile walk , mainly flat and on a circular route

Join us for a wander around Saltaire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Salts Mill, a complex of award-winning cafes, restaurants and boutique shops.  The walk is less than four miles, at a relaxed pace - nobody will be left behind

Saltaire Village is near Bradford in West Yorkshire. It is named after Sir Titus Salt who built a textile mill, known as Salts Mill and this village on the River Aire. Designed by architects, Lockwood and Mawson, Saltaire has beautiful Italianate architecture and a rich history. Saltaire Village was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001 and Salts Mill is home to amazing paintings and digital art by the world renowned artist David Hockney, who grew up here.

There will be a relaxed and friendly four mile walk through Roberts Park, along the Leeds Liverpool Canal towpath and then to the Hirst Wood Nature Reserve followed by tea and cake in one of the many cafe's in the Saltaire Village, a Fairtrade village. There will then be a chance to see the world renowned paintings by David Hockney, entry to Salts Mill and Gallery is free.  It is a circular walk beginning on tarmac paths past the bandstand in the park and mainly on the canal towpath and is mainly flat, the walk will end back at the Saltaire train station.  The same evening is a trip to the theatre in nearby Bradford to see Jake Quickenden go The Full Monty at this theatre musical in Bradford!
