This is a magical autumn walk taking in some of the best autumn colours. The route begins at Tring station and follows a clockwise circle through the National Trust’s most historic woodland. I personally love this walk and thought I would share it with you. If if you’d like to take in some autumn scenery, this is for you! The hills and woods are renowned for being some of the most beautiful in the south east and there is a wealth of plants and wildlife to be discovered by walking here.
Our route traverses five magical places.
- We climb to the devil’s ditch.
- Then on to incredible views at Ivinghoe Beacon, the beacon of light.
- We discover the history of the oldest road.
- I dare you to cross the bridge to the house of the Troll. This area was used as a film set for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
- Our destination is the site of the Castle of the Wizard of Aldbury - we shall discover his story.
There will be an opportunity to visit the pub or café in Aldbury, and to discuss the magical history of the area as well as a few gay myths and legends along the way. This walk is intended to take a moderate pace and be enjoyable for you if this is your first event or you are an experienced member.
