Join us for an evening of indoor climbing and bouldering at Parthian Climbing in Reading!

This page is for people that want to go bouldering - a style of climbing based around short routes (called "problems") which are climbed without ropes. if you've never scaled a wall before then bouldering is an ideal gateway into the world of climbing. Plus it presents a great challenge in its own right featuring technical and powerful moves that you don't often see with roped climbing.

Prefer roped climbing and have the experience to hit the wall unsupervised? Sign up here to let us know to expect you:

Reading indoor climbing evening - experienced roped climbers

New to roped climbing but want to give it a go? No problem - our leader will happily show you the ropes! We will need to sign you in to the wall as a "novice" so please sign up using this page so that we can ensure the required ratio of supervisors to novices

Reading indoor climbing evening - beginner roped climbers

About the centre

Parthian Climbing Reading has something for everyone with 120 top rope and auto-belay routes, 75 lead routes and 100 bouldering problems. There's a gym/training area, gear shop, and even a cafe for when you need a break from all that climbing.

What to expect at the session

We'll do a group warmup before splitting off to either get roped up or head to the bouldering area. Experienced roped climbers can pair up and the leader will go through the basics with any beginners. We normally all catch-up again over a drink in the cafe at the end of the session.

First visit to Parthian Climbing as a boulderer

Another benefit of bouldering is that, being simpler than roped climbing, you can quickly get going unsupervised. The event leader will be on-hand to help you get started, but you will be signing yourself in to the wall as an "unsupervised boulderer".

The centre have a short induction video that covers all the basic safety info you need to climb independently. When you arrive, they will ask some basic questions to confirm you have understood the video before signing you off.

The induction video and pre-registration form can be accessed here. Please try and do this ahead of the session to save time on the day: https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/5a9ea3f8dd787/web/
