POSTPONED - Betws-y-Coed to Llanrwst and back
13 people attending
7 places left
This walk is a variation on a Big Spring Camp Classic and usually goes from the campsite to Betws-y-Coed and back. Except this time we'll be going from Betws-y-Coed to the site of Big Spring Camp (Llanrwst) and back!
The walk takes us through the forest north of Betws-y-Coed towards the disused Hafna mine, which was abandoned in 1915. From there, we'll head towards the beautiful Grey Mare's Tail waterfall near the site which hosts Big Spring Camp each year on the edge of Llanrwst. We'll then head back through the forest past the Gwydir Uchaf Chapel, built by local landowner Sir Richard Wynn in 1673. On arrival back in Betws-y-Coed we will no doubt continue with tradition and go for tea and cake if the teashops are still open (or to the pub if they're not!)
There will be a social in Betws-y-Coed on the Saturday evening so why not sign up for that as well and make a weekend of it: https://www.outdoorlads.com/events/north-wales-social-200328

What to bring
If this is your first day walk and you're not sure what to wear or bring with you, please see the 'My First Day Walk' section of the 'Events' menu above.
Food & drink
You'll need to bring a packed lunch with you, along with sufficient water to keep you hydrated during the walk (recommended 1-2 litres). There'll be an optional pub/tea room stop at the end of the walk.
