Otterspool Promenade - Garston to Liverpool (6 miles)
8 people attending
0 places left
Join us for the last 6 miles of this 41 mile cycle from Manchester to Liverpool. The ride is split into 3 sections to make it more accessible. Join for one, two or all three sections, depending on how much of a challenge you are up for. Each section starts/ends at or within easy reach of a railway station, so you will be able to get a train back to wherever you joined us.
There is a separate event listing for each section, so please remember to book onto the other event(s) if you plan to join more than one. Links to sections 1 and 2 below:
Section 1 - Manchester to Warrington - 19 mile
Section 2 - Warrington to Garston - 16 miles
Everyone (including beginners) is welcome on this ride. You will need a reasonable level of fitness to maintain the steady pace of 10mph we'll be aiming for. The last section is relatively short and may be a bit slower. As always, no one will get left behind.
Starting from Central Manchester, we will pick up the Trans Pennine Trail in Trafford and follow this through Warrington and Widnes to Garston. We'll then cycle down Otterspool Promenade along the banks of the Mersey all the way to Liverpool city centre, where we'll find somewhere to relax over a drink and maybe something to eat. Most of the route is flat and traffic free, but we may encounter a few busy roads and some gentle hills.
The route is best suited to hybrid bikes, though road or mountain bikes will also be fine. Some parts of the Trans Pennine Trail are uneven and can be muddy if wet. Please check that your bike is roadworthy before the ride, as you will be responsible for dealing with your own mechanical issues, should they arise on the day.
IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
If not completed previously, you MUST complete the Cycling Participation Statement in addition to booking your event space before attending a cycling event.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, is asked not to attend.
