5 hours of mountain hiking, 800m of ascent and 12km distance. Nothing technical but still some steep and rocky & bouldery areas where care is needed.

We will be walking up Moel Siabod (872m) via the disused quarry and Llyn y Foel lake, then round the southern side of the mountain rather than the Daear Ddu scramble.

After a quick break in the shelter at the top we will be returning via the northern path towards the forest and a short walk back along the A5 to the car park.

If the weather permits, the views from the top of Moel Siabod are quite spectacular and 13 of the 14 highest peaks of North Wales may be visible.

This is a 'moderate' grade walk by mountain standards, with a total ascent of 770m including several  steep sections (think Moel Famau twice for example) and over 12km in distance.  It is expected to take about 5 hours. The walk should be readily achievable by anyone with some hill walking experience, reasonable fitness and the right kit (see kit list).

Dogs are welcome although normal rules apply with them needing to be kept under control on leads when walking through farmland with livestock especially as this will be lambing season and much of the mountainside is grazing land for sheep.

The event is subject to weather conditions on the day.
