Lundy Island Long Weekend

Explore an unspoilt island, home to a fascinating array of wildlife amidst dramatic scenery on this 3 night event.
Lundy Island is just under 2 hours by ferry crossing from Ilfracombe, North Devon. The island has a small village with an inn, Victorian church and the 13th-century Marisco Castle. There’s also a disused Georgian lighthouse to discover, offering superb views over the northern part of the island. And for nature-lovers there are a variety of seabirds and wildlife.
We will stay for three nights at The Barn which is now a hostel at the centre of Lundy life. The dormitory rooms are lined with varnished wood and its large sitting-room has an open fire. One of the island’s best views can be seen from the sleeping gallery.
In a place of wide spaces and big skies, without roads, cars or pollution, simply walking is a profound pleasure. Lundy has a milder climate than the mainland, with more sunshine and less rain. Lundy Bay has a beautiful sandy beach at low tide and there are plenty of rock pools to explore...
Join me on this adventure for the simple pleasures that Lundy affords; the sea is clear, the landscape spectacular, and at night, without competition from street lights, it is truly dark and the stars shine with unfamiliar brilliance.
Getting There
Transport to the Island will require a ferry trip on the MS Oldenburg, Lundy's own ship, or transport by helicopter is possible as is sometimes used in case of bad weather at sea. The ferry will cost £89 return and this should be booked in advance as it is not included in the event fee.
Ferry bookings must be made at least two weeks in advance to reserve your travel. Please see: https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/lundyisland/day-trips/bookings/ for more information. To book: Call on 01271 863636 quoting booking reference OPP1382207 and mention Liam who made the booking.
The leader will be staying in Ilfracombe on the Friday night at the Ocean Backpackers hostel if you wish to arrive early and/or meet up. https://oceanbackpackers.co.uk and free street parking can be found if you hunt around a bit.
