Our path takes us from the car park at the junction of Back Lane and Moor Lane over the moors on the Limestone Way into Cales Dale which descends into Lathkill Dale. This is a picturesque, steep sided, wooded ravine with waterfalls caves and other limestone features.
We follow the dale for 3km until we make a steep climb out of the dale to reach the small village of Over Haddon and our CAMRA pub – the Lathkill Hotel where we will stop for a pint and possibly lunch.
After lunch we gain a bit of height to a trig point at 208m and tumulus and hopefully a great view over the valley.
We now descent via some fluorspar mines to the river valley and the beautiful village of Alport and follow the river past the Rhienstor Cliff along the River Bradford to Youlgreave and back up the Limestone Way steep path to the car park.
After the walk, we usually go back down to the village of Youlgreave to another pub.
