This is an easy 6 mile canal walk. Starting in Leeds City centre we will take the towpath on the Leeds Liverpool Canal to Kirkstall Abbey, one of the best preserved Cistercian monasteries in the country, founded over 800 years ago. We will stop for lunch at the Abbey. Entrance fee is £5 which gives entry to the visitor centre, abbey, park and woodlands, and a stroll beside the River Aire. After visiting the Abbey we will head back along the same canal route. This walk is ideal for those on the Leeds Social the night before, but all are welcome.
