Lake District Activity Week 2024 - Camping
36 people attending
6 places left
This is an amazing location surrounded by some of the most famous mountains in the Lake District great for mountaineering, climbing, & mountain biking.
Activities at the event will be varied and will depend on the leaders attending, their skill set & weather. Leaders will write their events on a whiteboard during the week, usually the evening before so you'll be able to see meeting times, location and type of event that way (example in the pictures). Leaders will decide from day to day and this laid-back approach isn't always a match for members who like to have their week super planned out.
Climbers and mountain bikers will run events that coincide with this event and list via sign-up pages due to the experience/kit needed to attend these events.
This isn't an event for the partygoers but in the evenings people will go to the local pubs or sit around in the centre of the field socialising.

Important info:
OutdoorLads has a section of the group field on the site for tents, however, we are very limited in the number of car parking spaces available (only 30) so please make efforts to car share wherever possible. There will be a car pool site set up specifically to arrange list shares, so please use that if you can offer a space or are looking for a lift - or are open to either!
This page is for booking a tent space on the group field only. If you are looking to stay in a campervan, or motorhome, you will need to make a private booking with the campsite directly. They are not offering discounts on this, given the time of year, and it will be at their standard prices.
You don't have to camp with us to take part; other options including a hostel on the same road are available, and a whole host of local hotels and B and B's. Full, concession and PAYG members are welcome to join us for the daytime events, but will need to make a booking on the separate event page for insurance reasons please.

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, is asked not to attend.
What to bring
Recommended Kit List
In addition to what you need for the daytime activities, some reminders for what you'll need for camping:

Eating equipment: mug, bowl or plate and cutlery
Washing up equipment: detergent, brush/scourer and tea towel
Wash kit: remember to include a towel, shower gel and shampoo
Torch: or easier still, a head torch
Food & drink
There are several pubs within walking distance, but it's a good idea to make sure you have emergencies supplies or are willing to drive.
There is a Co-op about a 5-10 min drive away and Ambleside is 20mins away.
The shop sells coffee and bacon butties etc as well as things to make a basic camp meal.
