Come and see one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in Manchester.

Part of the University of Manchester Campus, The John Rylands Research Institute and Library is a stunning neo-Gothic Grade 1 purpose-built library that houses one of the world’s finest collections of rare books, manuscripts and archives.

Entry to the library is free of charge and there are a limited number of guided tours of the facility but they are not published in advance and it is therefore not possible to pre-book them. We will enquire on arrival and if there are no tours planned we will go with an old-fashioned self-guided tour of this iconic building.

We will meet outside the Library at 11am and enter together. When we’re finished we will head over to the Alchemist in Spinningfields for food, 4 tables of 6 have been booked, please let me know on the event board if you won’t be coming for food.
