Fan of Jane Austen? Love things that the Romans built? Never tried a Sally Lunn bun? This is the walk for you...
What better way to see out the last weekend in grey January than with a trip to the UNESCO world heritage site Bath. We'll start our walk in the city centre, taking in some of the wonder of this historic city, before heading up and out of the city into it's glorious circular walk, the Bath "skyline". A word of warning: I've done this walk in the middle of summer and the depths of winter, and it's almost guaranteed to be a muddy one, so come well prepared for that. Most of the mud will be at the start, then we'll stick to well trodden paths (some paved) through woodland, before dropping down back into the city again.
This 10k walk has it all: beautiful parkland, scenery straight out of a period drama, architecture unsurpassed. The views of the city as our walk concludes are phenomenal.
Bath is a great place to visit at any time of year, you could easily make a weekend of it and soak up the sights (see what i did there). The National Trust garden "Prior Park" is particularly famous with tourists, should you have time for a visit.
Our walk will start and finish at the Bath Spa train station, and we'll find somewhere suiting for a drink afterwards, before heading home. Please note, like nearby cities, Bath has a congestion charge, so do check this out if you are planning to drive. There are park and ride schemes that are easy to use.

What to bring
This walk is likely to be muddy in places, particularly at the start, so please bring appropriate kit.
Food & drink
Please bring lunch with you, though we will also be passing places before the walk starts where you can pick something up. We will stop at a cafe on Pulteney Bridge for those who want to get a takeaway coffee/cake/pasty etc and we'll pass other places (there is an M&S food, morrisons, waitrose, etc nearby if you arrived early and wanted to sort something prior to starting the walk.
There will be the option to stop for a takeaway drink towards the end of the walk, and we're hoping to be able to end the walk with a pint somewhere near Pulteney Bridge.
