Indoor Climbing in Cardiff - all abilities welcome!

6 places left
Indoor climbing is a great way to improve your fitness and confidence. You don't need to have superhuman upper body strength and a fear of heights need not stop you (at least one of our climbing leaders in Cardiff hasn't got the greatest head for heights). All you need is a willingness to have a go.
This event is ideal for beginners and anyone needing a refresher. After being shown the various areas of the climbing centre we'll show you how to safely put on a harness and tie the knots you'll need. When it comes to your first climb, we'll be there to guide you in ascending the wall and how to come down safely. Afterwards you'll be introduced to belaying and how to do this to ensure the safety of the climber.
Experienced climbers are welcome to join the event too. Boulders offers a wide range of routes and difficulties across top roping, lead climbing and bouldering.
To come along, you will need to register via this event page and to climb you will need to pay an entry fee directly to the centre when you arrive. For entry fee prices at the centre, go to: www.bouldersuk.com/climbing-centre/climbing.
Please pre-register here before the event, to avoid registration queues at Boulders climbing centre... http://bouldersuk.com/boulders/pre-register/
Participation statement
Please note that every person participating should be aware of (and accept) that those members perceived as ‘in charge’ or leading the event are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, and are not regarded by OutdoorLads, or themselves as ‘technical experts’ but are amateur climbers with experience and who are happy to impart their knowledge. Any advice given should be considered with this in mind by the recipient.
All those attending the event must also be aware of the centre's own terms and conditions of participation and abide by them, along with any instructions given by the centre's staff. Everyone must also take responsibility for their own safety while participating in Indoor climbing events.

What to bring
If you have your own climbing gear i.e. harness, shoes, chalk-bag, Belay plate and screw-gate karabiner, climbing rope, you can bring this along, but please make sure it is in good condition.
As a minimum you will need the use of a climbing harness and a belay device. If you do not have your own, you will be able to hire what you need directly from the centre. For prices please use the link: www.bouldersuk.com/climbing-centre/climbing.
There are cubby holes at the centre where your belongings can be stored.
What to Wear
It is best to wear either shorts, combats or tracksuit bottoms. Avoid tight fitting clothing which hampers movement. A t-shirt or vest is also suitable.
Any jewellery such as rings, watches, chains or bangles should be removed before beginning the session to prevent injury.
Food & drink
There is a cafe at the centre where snacks can be purchased.
