We have a cracker of a walk here: set almost in the centre of the UK, but in stunning countryside, this walk is based around the historic Foxton Locks.

Foxton is well known for the unique staircase locks and former inclined plane buit in 1900's, but now it will serve as a good starting point for the walk which is just under 8 miles (12.8km), completing a circular of the local area of Foxton, Gartree, Lubenham & Foxton Locks.

Our starting point is the black horse pub in Foxton village which will meet outside the front at 10:00 ready for 10:15 set-off. Passing through the village of Foxton over the swingbridge set on the canal, we head off on the Leicestershire Round until picking up the Grand Union Canal (Market Harborough Arm) where we follow the canal as it takes a less than direct route to Market Harborough.

At Hillcrest Farm, we head off over open countryside towards Lubenham and enjoy the peaceful village green. We then set back towards Foxton and join the canal at the top of the famous Foxton Locks. Dropping down the flight we will (after suitable photo opportunities) carry along the canal for a short distance back to Foxton village.
