Long walk at brisk pace undulating terrain - muddy paths and a small period on road

Join us on a great 32km long walk along the Berkshire/Oxfordshire border.  From Henley-on-Thames we will proceed along the Thames path and then head West and then North inland through pretty countryside and woods eventually passing by Greys Court a NT Tudor House. We will continue heading North into the Chiltern hills passing  St. James' church, Bix Brand a ruin of a mediaeval church.

The village of Bix Brand that once surrounded it was a mediaeval settlement which fell in to decline by the 18th century. We will then turn East skirting round the grounds of Stonor deer park eventually passing by Chiltern valley vineyard and brewery where we can briefly visit the Cellar shop.

Proceeding South we will pass through the pretty village of Hambleden containing an Elizabethan manor house  where Charles I stayed there overnight in 1646 while fleeing from Oxford. The Manor House is also the former home of James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan who led the ill-fated Charge of the Light Brigade.

We will then cross the Thames at the impressive Hambleden lock and make our way back to Henley along the Thames path.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A LONG WALK OF 32KM WITH SOME MINOR HILLS TO CLIMB AND WE WILL BE GOING AT A BRISK BUT COMFORTABLE PACE.

Is it dog friendly?  Dogs are welcome but please note and abide by the Countryside Code (https://tinyurl.com/rlqvp3h) and be prepared for a couple of stiles / hills on the walk. Please also remember not everyone loves dogs as much as you do so please be mindful of other members.
