On this charming urban walk you will see expansive parkland, peaceful canal paths and grand mansions and perhaps some roaming deer. In fact you will mostly forget how close to the city of Nottingham you actually are.
The route will take us through walled gardens, we’ll see the Hemlock Stone which is steeped in myth and legend, and then we'll continue along routes including the Nottingham Canal and the Robin Hood Way taking in much of Wollaton Park along the way.
Unfortunately, this is not a dog-friendly walk.
IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, is asked not to attend.
What to bring
I always prefer comfortable hiking boots, but you might get away with a pair of good trainers on this walk. The terrain can be muddy along this route, so at least wear footwear that provides enough grip.
Of course, dress for the weather, layers is better (fleece and separate waterproof overcoat) and will allow you to more easily regulate your temperature. If we get lucky with the weather please ensure you pack your sunglasses and sunscreen, it might also be the perfect opportunity to show us your legs.
Food & drink
8 miles whilst on the shorter side is still a significant walk, so bring water or a flask of tea to stay hydrated, some snacks [I like Liquorice Allsorts ;-)] and a rucksack to carry them in.
Bring a packed lunch if you like, however, there may be an opportunity to get something at the Wollaton Courtyard Cafe.
