We will meet at Grand Central for the benefit of anyone who has yet to see the latest shopping centre in Birmingham. It is located above New Street Station, Birmingham.
From there we will see the Brass Bull, St Martins church and then descend on to the canals to the east of Bham. This will be the first of the day's two short walks. It will be about 4 miles ending near to the Birmingham Museum and Edwaardian Tea Rooms for a lunch break.
Anyone wishing to tour the Museum can do so as we will hopefully break for a 1 hour lunch.
In the afternoon, the plan is to take in Gas Street Basin and the canals to the west of the City, including the area named after the famous engineer James Brindley. Again, this leg of the walk will be around 4 miles.
The conclusion of the walk will be adjacent to The Mail Box which is only a short stroll back to New Street Station. At the end of the walk, for any thirsty members, we will visit Craven Arms which sits under the shadow of The Mail Box but could not be more of a contrast; its real ales are famous in the West Midlands.

What to bring
Suitable footwear for wet wintry conditions; warm, waterproof clothing, headgear, gloves.
Food & drink
Most, if not all of the walks will be on established paths and near to local shops on several occasions. It is advisable to bring a warm drink though given its mid winter! A packed lunch does mean that members can then spend more time visiting the Museum and Tea Rooms.
