Godalming Figure 8 to Puttenham Common & North Downs Way
10 people attending
20 places left
Join Justin and Matt on a figure of 8 circular walk starting at Godalming. Very quickly we are out in the country on Fir Walk, following along a windy river to Hurtmore.
Crossing the A3 (carefully) we head through the village of Shackleford and Cross Farm and head for the Lower Puttenham Common, with a varied mixture of woodland, open countryside, heathland and passing close to Gatwick (a small village not the airport). Lunch will be somewhere in this area.
We loop round passing through Long Bottom to join the North Downs Way with views of the Hogs Back, to the village of Puttenham (with its own Eco Camping Barn - www.puttenham-campingbarn.co.uk). We branch south down Fox Way back to Shackleford and a possible pub stop at the Cyder House Inn back in Shackleford. After refreshment we take our second loop south and through Shackleford Heath and again cross back over the A3 but this time on an overpass, and along Halfway Lane to head back to the Station where the walk will end.
