45km (28 miles) with 313m of climbing

During the late spring and summer months we're planning a series of eight evening rides in conjunction with Out Velo - a recently launched national LGBTQ+ road cycling club. These will start in Glasgow and cover all points of the compass. Distances will typically be around 30 miles and should take around 2.5 - 3 hours. There will be a maximum of twelve participants on each ride with six spaces allocated to each of ODL and Out Velo.

The first four rides have covered the inter-cardinal directions of the compass. For this ride we make a start on the cardinal directions and head north of Glasgow, initially following the canal to Maryhill locks to avoid rush-hour traffic. We'll then head along the Bears way Cycle route toward Milngavie and tackle our only major climb of the trip to a fantastic viewpoint over the Mugdock Reservoirs. After descending into Strathblane we'll follow the Strathkelvin Railway path eastwards to Lennoxtown and continue through Torrance to re-join the canal towpath back to Glasgow.

The rides will be run in accordance with ODL's policies and procedures and covered by ODL's insurance (through Cycling UK).
