Forest of Bowland Day Walks: Parlick and Paddy's Pole

The Forest of Bowland was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1964. The AONB covers much of north-east Lancashire, with a small part in North Yorkshire, and the name "forest" is used in its traditional sense of "royal hunting ground". This series of walks aims to explore the area.
On this walk, we'll set off from the village of Chipping and climb gradually towards Saddle Fell. From there, we'll cut across Wolf Fell towards Fair Snape Fell (510m) and the curiously-named Paddy's Pole, where we'll stop for lunch. We'll then head south towards Parlick (432m) and, after a steep descent, across farmland back towards Chipping and the pub.
Unfortunately, due to restrictions on the Access Land we'll be crossing, it won't be possible to bring dogs on this event.

What to bring
If you're unsure what to wear or bring for a day walk, see the kit list in the About Us > My First Event section of the website. As it's winter, it's a good idea to wear/bring layers of clothing, a hat, gloves and a flask of warm drink!
If you have gaiters it's a good idea to wear those as paths are likely to be muddy.
Food & drink
You'll need to bring a packed lunch/snacks and enough fluids to keep you hydrated during the walk (recommended 1-2 litres of water).
