Join us for an unforgettable long weekend retreat (three nights!) in a remote and idyllic coastal hostel in Ceredigion at the stunning Ty Cwch. Nestled in the picturesque cove of Cwmtydu, this unique accommodation offers breathtaking ocean views, glorious sunsets, and dark skies perfect for stargazing. Cwmtydu is on one of the most spectacular stretches on the Ceredigion Heritage Coast, with picturesque towns and villages, a wealth of wildlife, and a large variety of plants and insects.
Cardigan Bay has the largest population of bottlenose dolphins in Europe, seals come on to Cwmtydu beach to have their pups, there’s an abundance of sea birds nesting on the cliffs, (lesser black backed gulls, oyster catchers, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes, fulmers, shags, and peregrine falcons), and the next valley is home to one of the few sites for the pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly in Wales.
Expect plenty of time for clifftop walks, coastal exploration, and enjoying the company of your fellow OutdoorLads in this truly magical setting. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind retreat!
We’ll have two and a half days to explore the stunning coastline and relax in this unique boathouse made from repurposed shipping containers for a perfect fun nautical theme. With fully insulated and heated living spaces and outdoor infra-red heaters under canopy, its an ideal for enjoying an evening sun-downer while soaking in the beauty of the Welsh seascape. Nemo will be mixing up some optional sea-themed cocktails too!
Feast with Nemo on a weekend of fabulous food including a Sunday roast dinner with all the trimmings, delightful desserts and fun entertainment and a costal themed Bingo Lingo.
With its incredible location and a touch of ‘Nemo’ magic, this promises to be an extra special early spring 2025 getaway. Don’t miss out—sign up now for a long weekend of adventure, relaxation, and memorable moments on the Welsh Coast!

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
What to bring
Bedding - each mattress has a fitted sheet, two pillows and a single duvet. However, you will need to bring a duvet cover and pillow cases.
You will need your own towel, and of course clothing, wash kit etc for the weekend.
Should you need any of the items below, remember that OutdoorLads members get a discount at Cotswold Outdoors, Berghaus and Snow + Rock
Boots: As we will be hiking along the Welsh coast, full hiking boots are a better option than mid-ankle hiking shoes. Waterproof and breathable are the best options.
Socks: Merino wool socks provide the best moisture-wicking but almost any decent walking sock from an outdoor shop or even good quality cotton or wool socks will provide a number of affordable "quick-dry" options.
Walking Trousers: There are several styles of affordable walking trousers. It is always worth trying them on to make sure they fit comfortably, a webbing style belt is often useful, as well as zippable pockets and should be water-repellent.
Waterproof Trousers: As above, many outdoor shops all stock an excellent selection of waterproof trousers. It is recommended that you have a pair just in case the weather turns.
Base Layer: A breathable base layer should be chosen in order to let sweat escape from the body. This could be a cheaper sports top or you could go top of the range with a merino top. Cotton t-shirts are best avoided as they can become damp and uncomfortable as our bodies heat up when hiking.
Other Layers: On top of your base layer, you can have a variety of options such as a micro fleece, a fleece jacket or a rugby/sports top. Having one or two additional layers gives you flexibility when the weather is changeable – the more layers, the more flexible you can be in adapting to the weather.
Beach: Bring a beach towel and swimming trunks as we are sure to have a dip.
Waterproof Jacket: Good waterproof jackets can range from £30 to over £300! At a minimum, the jacket should have fully taped seams, an adjustable hem, elastic cuffs and at least 1 inside pocket.
Hat: A good hat (that covers your ears) like a wool beany provides warmth and wicking properties.
Gloves: As it will be late winter / early spring a good pair of (preferably) water- and wind-proof gloves is an essential piece of kit.
Rucksack: For day walks a 20-30 litre capacity rucksack should be sufficient for carrying the essentials. Ideally it should have padded waist straps, several outside pockets and a rain cover.
Food & drink
Friday arrival meal: We will have the traditional OutdoorLads arrival night buffet! Please bring enough for 2 or 3 people and think "outside the box"! Instead of sausage rolls and pork pies find colourful foods.
