Welcome to a new kind of OutdoorLads event... Introducing EXTREME DAY TRIPS.

In a nutshell, extreme day trips involve flying somewhere on the continent for a full day of exploring, then flying back the same evening. No hotel or baggage costs, just turn up at the airport, breeze through security and have a day out with a difference.

Our inaugural trip will be to the beautiful Irish city of Cork! A city known the world over for its history, buzzing pubs, fantastic galleries and colourful architecture. There’s a a lot to do in Cork, from Blarney Castle and its gardens, the old city Gaol, the English Market and much much more. There is no set plan on what to do when there, this can be decided between the participants closer to the time.

Once signed up to the event it will be your responsibility to book your own flights. Once that’s done we’ll meet up at the airport in the day, let the fun begin and see what happens.

Having done some research, at the time of sending this event for publication the flights options from Manchester are:

  • Outbound flight 05:45-07:00 - Inbound flight 22:15-23:30 = £29.66
  • Outbound flight 09:30-10:45 - Inbound flight 22:15-23:30 = £59.06

Please book whichever time suits you for ease of getting to the airport, we can arrange to meet up once all have arrived. I’ve booked the earlier flight as it will give us a full day to explore, we can find somewhere for a hearty Irish breakfast! Please bare in mind that prices will obviously rise as seat availability reduces so I would advise booking your flight asap.

If Manchester is not your local airport, feel free to book wherever suits you, but ideally similar flight times so we can all arrive roughly the same time. We would encourage all participants to pay a little extra for carbon offsetting if you can.

A Telegram group will be set up prior to the event to coordinate arrival times and to make sure no one is left behind and to suggest ideas on what to do when we’re there in the days leading up.
