Join us for a Sunday sociable, urban bike ride from Vauxhall to Richmond. We'll be taking the gentle routes, along the Thames path or on quiet streets where possible, so this is designed for anyone who enjoys a gentle Sunday bike ride, whether experienced or even new to cycling.

The plan is to meet on Vauxhall Bridge, and then head west along the south side of the river taking in Battersea park, Wandsworth, Putney, Barnes and Mortlake, then heading south into Richmond Park. You can imagine that it's almost totally flat, though there's a gentle hill up to Richmond Park. We'll aim to cover the 9miles in aorund 1.5 to 2 hours.

We'll have a nice leisurely lunch either in Richmond Park (either bring a packed lunch or buy something from one of the food stalls in the park) or if the weather on the day is not good enough for that, we can head to one of the cafes or pubs in Richmond.

The route back is similar, but along the north side of the river, so adds another 1.5 to 2 hours and 9 miles of cycling. If anyone has had enough after lunch then there's also the option to catch the train from Richmond back to Vauxhall instead.

This event is for members of all levels of experience and all are welcome to come along.

This is intended for anyone with a bike but the paths can be gravelly and muddy, so may not be suitable for slick tyres on a road bike. If you don't have your own bike or can't borrow one, you would also be able to do this ride on Boris bike, and there is a rental station at Vauxhall station. Please note though that the ride takes us beyond the area covered by the bike rental scheme, which extends to Putney Bridge only, so you'd need to cycle back at least that far from Richmond to be able to return the bike.

Please wear a helmet and we advise bringing a spare inner tube just in case.
