Come and join OutdoorLads for a seasonal Saturday evening stroll in Bolton for our 2024 Christmas time social - Saturday 7th December. We will be celebrating Christmas early by visiting some of the finest brew houses, including Ye Olde Man and Scythe, which is thought to have been built prior to 1251 and is well renowned for its hauntings and spooky goings-on. Ye Olde Man and Scythe is full of character and has a lovely atmosphere. There will be plenty of opportunity for a nice ale, some nibbles, and the chance to throw some shapes on the dancefloor for those who wish to stay on a bit later.
The 'Put Big Light On Festival ' will be in full swing on the day, so we can have a walk around and enjoy the atmosphere beforehand. See 'meeting times and places' below.
The festival is a fantastic display of light art installations from internationally renowned artists on display in Bolton town centre. See mesmerising art work such as Gaia, created by UK artist Luke Jerram who brought the Museum of the Moon to last year's festival. Measuring six metres in diameter, Gaia features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth's surface (compiled from the Visible Earth series). See here for more details...
