Carneddau is a mountain range in Snowdonia comprising a number of peaks.  This mountain walk will take in a lesser known mountain - Pen Llithrig Y Wrach, a 'marilyn' in the Carneddau range standing at 799 m.

Our route will take us from Capel Curig and up to the summit of Pen Llithrig Y Wrach through open moorland, Cwm Tal-y-Braich, from which we can see great views of Tryfan and the rest of the Glyderau range. Once we reach the summit, we will make our way down into Cwm Eigiau via Pen Yr Helgi Du and around back past Llyn Colwyd back to Capel Curig.  On a clear day, from Cwm Eigiau we should be able to see quite far down towards the Conwy valley.

We will encounter open moorland, some rocky steep mountainous ground, a ridge (Bwlch Eryl Farchog), some exposed rocks and abandonned mine workings.  We will be navigating off-piste and across established paths.

After the walk we can stop off at Moel Siabod Cafe or one of the local pubs for a pint (maybe a bit of dinner) before heading home.

The route may be changed based on the prevailing weather conditions, pace and make-up of the group on the day.
