Canal Walk to Lyme Park

Join us for a leisurely 11 mile walk along sections of the Macclesfield and Peak Forest Canals and a visit to Lyme Park.
We start with a small climb up Marple Locks, and once at the top lock will follow the Macclesfield Canal to Higher Poynton. We leave the Canal here and follow footpaths before entering Lyme Park, a 1,400 acre estate that once belonged to the Legh family and is now managed by the National Trust.
As we walk through the park, look out for the red deer that roam the estate as well as the elegant Regency house and the Cage, a folly which we can visit offering fine views over Cheshire.
After walking through the park, we'll head down through Disley to join the Peak Forest Canal, and enjoy views of the hills of the High Peak District as we head back to the Marple Lock Flight.

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement, here, in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, even if they are extremely mild, or who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, is asked not to attend.
What to bring
The majority of the walk is on good paths, but short sections of mud can be expected so boots are recommended, rather than your best trainers or leather shoes.
Food & drink
Please bring a packed lunch with plenty of food and drink to last you all day.
There may be an opportunity to stop at the cafe in Lyme Park about halfway around the walk.
