29 places left
This event is intended for attendees of BIG Summer Camp 2024.
Join us as we take in "A Taste of Sussex" at Amberley Museum, celebrating the rich heritage of Sussex, with food (which may include various seafoods, Sussex Charmer cheese, Sussex Pond Pudding and "true" banoffee pie), drink (including local apple ciders, Hepworth and Firebird beers. various wines and gins), music, and crafts.
Exhibits and collections around the museum include chalk pit kilns, the DANDO wind pump, and the twelve-sided Arundel Gin building (sorry - not that kind of gin...this is a flaxseed pressing en"gin"e...). There is also a short nature trail for exploring.
As this is a bank holiday weekend pre-booking is required to ensure access into the Museum - you can book here; however you can get 2 for 1 admission through the National Rail Days Out voucher program, located here (you will also need rail tickets to get this offer - book tickets here, based on the information below).
The plan is to take the 10.15 train from Angmering (changing at Ford) to Amberley, arriving around 10.45; once inside the museum, feel free to explore at your leisure. The museum closes at 16.30 and of course you are free to depart whenever; I will aim to leave on the 16.00 train from Amberley back to Angmering (again changing at Ford), arriving back at Camp by 17.00.
The Museum paths consist primarily of tarmac and concrete paths, with plenty of benches throughout. There is also a narrow gauge train that runs throughout the grounds, as well as vintage buses (see the attached map). There are also 3 sets of accessible toilets across the grounds; the event leader will also have a radar key.
