BSumC23: Chanctonbury Ring Walk (Sun)
26 people attending
4 places left
This event is intended for attendees at Big Summer Camp 2023.
Classic rolling downland and panoramic views from the South Downs Way are guaranteed for those who join this 12 mile (19km) walk. Starting a short drive from base camp, we will ascend to the atmospheric Chanctonbury Ring, an ancient hill fort sitting atop the South Downs and offering sweeping views across the downs. We will head along the South Downs Way for a few miles before dropping into the historic and intimate market town of Steyning, where there may be time for refreshments.
From there we will climb back onto the downs and join the Monarch's Way to head to the village of Findon and the promise of a potential pub stop. We then make our way back through meadows for a couple of miles to return to the cars and then to base camp.
The route may be seen on OS Maps here.
