UPDATE: Let's shake off the cobwebs after a night in the disco with this easy 10km hike along the beautiful River Arun. We will start from the Clubhouse and walk down to Angmering Station (about 20 minutes) to catch the 10.38 Southern service to Ford (£4,10 one way), work our way along the river into Arundel, where we can explore the village. There are multiple options for lunch including The Fauna Taproom, The Burger Shop Company, or the "ever popular" Pizza Express...There may also be various food stalls set up around the village for the Arundel Festival of the Arts. After our break, we will continue across Arundel Park and Lonebeech Plantation back to the river's edge to Amberley and the charming Bridge Inn, next to the rail station. After some libations, we can catch any Southern service from Amberley back to Angmering (trains depart at :55 past each hour at a cost of £6.10. Then it's an easy 20 minute walk back to the rugby club, with plenty of time to get into our beachwear for the disco!!

This event is intended for attendees at Big Summer Camp 2023.
I will be providing a route map in the very near future but in the interim I have created this Telegram group for us to chat and plan!
A fairly easy but extremely rewarding 6 mile linear walk with a stunning vista about two-thirds in. Note this is a linear walk, and we will use the train to get to the walk start and then back to base camp.
We start at Ford Station, and wend our way for a mile or so up the tidal River Arun. We reach Arundel, a beautiful and historic yet buzzing town nestled in the South Downs, which will be in full swing with the Arundel Festival. After a brief mooch around the town, we continue on to climb onto the Downs themselves, via the tranquil Arundel Park, passing a folly en route. Eventually the view gives out to a panorama over the Arun Valley running north ahead, and views to the coastal towns looking behind. We will drop down to a shady wooded river path, and end our walk with a pint at the Bridge Inn next to the historic Houghton Bridge near Amberley. We then head back on the train to Angmering station to arrive back at base camp by 3pm.
