A refreshing, scenic half day walk from the campsite - explore the splendour of the local area.
We'll walk a few hundred metres along the road, then up into the forest around nearby Grinllwm. Next, we'll head up to the (lake) Llyn Geirionydd, where we'll stop for lunch. Those who want to can go for a short paddle, then we'll follow the edge of the lake, before ascending (to over 300 metres!) to reach some old mine workings, then to an abandoned mine and viewpoint at Nant Uchaf. We'll be able to see over towards the Snowdon massif if the weather is good. From our viewpoint, we head down the road to the Grey Mares Tail waterfall. The campsite is then a short wander back down the lane.
What to bring
Hiking boots are ideal, you'll likley survive in trainers with an aggressive tread (with wet, muddy feet and twisted ankles).
You'll need a rucksack, a waterproof jacket, food, drink, extra warm clothing and sun protection; and preferably waterproof overtrousers, hat, gloves.
You may want to bring a mat to sit on for lunch and a camera.
Food & drink
Bring food and drink for the duration of the event (we will not be passing any shops). I suggest morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and a couple of litres to drink.
