Brighton Train Station is where our journey begins. Opened in 1841, this architectural gem is not only a bustling transport hub but also a fine example of Victorian design, complete with stunning ironwork.
Next, we’ll stroll to St Peter's Church, a striking Gothic Revival masterpiece built in 1824. Its tall spire and beautiful stained glass tell stories of Brighton’s past and are a testament to the town's rich ecclesiastical heritage.
Continuing on, we’ll visit Woodvale Cemetery, a serene resting place that features beautifully kept gardens and historic graves, including those of notable locals. It's a peaceful spot that reflects the area's history and cultural diversity.
As we ascend to Falmer Hill, prepare to be awed by panoramic views across the South Downs. This area is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, showcasing the stunning chalk hills and rolling landscapes that define this region.
Next, we’ll wander into Falmer Village, a quaint village steeped in history. Here, you’ll find traditional flint cottages and a sense of community that’s both welcoming and charming.
We can’t miss the Amex Stadium, the proud home of Brighton and Hove Albion. Opened in 2011, this modern stadium has quickly become a landmark, known for its vibrant atmosphere on match days.
Our path will take us through Sussex University, renowned for its innovative campus and diverse student body. The university is set against the backdrop of the South Downs, creating an inspiring learning environment.
Next, we’ll explore Stanmer Park, a beautiful green space perfect for a leisurely stroll. The park is home to ancient woodlands, gardens, and even the charming Stanmer House, a stunning 18th-century mansion.
As we move on to Wild Park, before a climb to Hollingbury Castle, a fascinating hillfort that dates back to the Iron Age. From the summit, you’ll get another spectacular view, making it a rewarding climb!
Our journey continues through Preston Park, Brighton’s largest urban park, which boasts a wide variety of flora, a stunning rose garden, and plenty of space to relax.
Finally, we’ll wrap up our adventure along the Brighton Green Way, a scenic route that connects green spaces throughout the city. This path highlights Brighton’s commitment to sustainability and offers a peaceful conclusion to our walk before we descend into one of Brighton's colourful pubs.
