BPW24: Derwent Valley Brewery Walk - 16km - (Sat 10.30)
31 people attending
0 places left
This event is part of the Outdoorlads 2024 *BIG Peaky Weekender* and participation is intended for those attending the weekend event.
A 16km (10 mile) circular walk from the campsite, we will walk along the Monsal Trail in the direction of Monsal head, then along the river through Monsal Dale, up steep woodlands and then descending to the River Derwent, we will have a lunch stop at Ashford in the Water beside the river.
After lunch we will make our way towards the Thornbridge Brewery which is on the outskirts of Bakewell. Where we can all have a well earned pint or two from well know brews such as Lukas Green Mountain or Jaipur. Or maybe you would prefer a Cocoa Wonderland, West Side Glory or a Zesty. Whatever your poison you will be amongst good friends.
If you are not full from Lunch (Or decided to wait to the Brewery to eat, which is my plan) they also have an amazing selections of Pizza's to choose from. I've had pizza from the Brewery several times and they never fail!! you can have a Margherita for £11.00, Pesto e Olive, Formaggio di Capa or Pepperoni for £12.00. Calabrese e Peperoncino or Pollo Cajun for 13.00 as well as garlic bread for 7.00 and cheesy garlic bread for 8.00 (prices are correct at time of printing so don't blame me if they are more expensive on the day)
After we have spent some time in the Brewery and are sufficiently fed and watered we will make our way back to the camp site for our Disco Naps, this part of the walk will take approx 45 minutes and will take us up a steep track towards the Monsal Trail. There will be some beautiful views of Bakewell and the surrounding countryside should you be sober enough to enjoy this. When we get to the Monsal Trail the walk back to the campsite will be mainly flat and leisurely.
This walk will be very popular, so please don't sign-up if there's a chance you'll not attend, to avoid disappointing others. Do not sign-up for this walk if you do not intend to do the brewery visit.
