BPW24: Challenge of the Beasts - 20km (Sat 09:15)
8 people attending
4 places left
This event is part of the Outdoorlads 2024 *BIG Peaky Weekender* and participation is intended for those attending the weekend event.
I am a beast of the Peak. You can be a beast too, if you come on this challenge! This walk will cover a number of sites where beasts or beast remains have been found. We shall have a quiz, a challenge, to guess the beasts of the Peak District, past and present, along the way.
This is also a beast of a challenge. The walk is 12.5 miles long and covers five of the highest peaks in the area, and adds up to a mountain equivalent 1000 metres of ascent. Starting from Thornbridge Outdoors, we will traverse Monsal Head and take a panorama around the valley.
You will need a packed lunch. On the way back to the centre, there will be an opportunity to drop into a village pub, but that will be near the end, so ensure you have plenty of food and drink with you. In the event of rainy weather, we may use less exposed routes with more shelter.
You can view the route here.
