For our fourth year, we'll be taking over the haunted castle of Borwick Hall in Lancashire. This 16th-century, Grade I listed, manor house is located in the small village of Borwick close to the city of Lancaster.
But this year, instead of celebrating Halloween, we'll be letting off fireworks for our first BIG Fireworks Weekend! Included in your event fee is a professional, 20 minute firework display costing over £1000. This is going to be a firework display like no other.
Following the fireworks, our DJ will transform the Great Hall into a Disco Inferno dancefloor. As usual, fancy dress will be the order of the evening so get your thinking caps on.
We have exclusive use of the site making it easier to get to know other members as you can be sure that everyone you meet is a member of OutdoorLads.
This is a hostel weekend with a difference as in addition to great evening entertainment we also offer amazing outdoor activities during the day including caving, kayaking, archery, ropes course and bouldering /indoor and outdoor climbing. These events are now available to book and more availability may be made available if they prove popular. To book, see the Saturday AM and PM tabs below.
We'll also be offering cycling and a variety of walks. More information about these events will be available nearer the date.
What to bring
Bedding is provided but you may want to bring your own pillow. You'll also need to bring a towel, washing kit, etc.
Depending on what activites you're taking part in over the weekend, you may also need some extra gear - you can find out more about that on the activities information panes which will be published nearer the event date.
Don't forget to bring your fancy dress costume for the Saturday night!
Food & drink
Friday night: Buffet. Please bring an item for the buffet. One item per person will be fine - we are not feeding the 5000!
Saturday breakfast: A selection of cereals, toasts and hot breakfast rolls prepared by our own kitchen team.
Saturday lunch: Please bring a packed lunch.
Saturday dinner: A special Fireworks dinner cooked by our own professional chef, Mike and prepared by our volunteer kitchen team.
Sunday breakfast: A selection of cereals, toasts and hot breakfast rolls prepared by our own kitchen team.
Sunday lunch: You may wish to bring a packed lunch if you intend doing an activity on Sunday.
The OutdoorLads Bar is operated by our volunteers. All the profit made from the bar goes directly back into supporting the charity. Did you know that without our bar, we wouldn't have been able to send all our Event Leaders on first aid courses? A range of alcoholic and soft drinks will be available including locally brewed real ale and cider, chilled bottled beers and lagers and spirits. All the evening entertainment will take place at the bar. This will include the Friday night welcome meeting and Saturday Night Disco.
