8 mile/13km flat walk along clear paths but with option of walking on some beach sections.

Linear walk along the Angus Coast between Broughty Ferry and Carnoustie

Our walk starts at the waterfront in Broughty Ferry and soon after we pass the imposing Broughty Castle where we have the option of making a short visit to the castle if there is interest. After the castle we can either walk along the beach (depending on tidal and weather conditions) or take the footpath and head along the coastal path towards Monifieth.

At Monifieth we need to head slightly inland to avoid the Barry Buddon military firing range and follow the cycle path towards Carnoustie. Just before Carnoustie we head back towards the coast and follow the coastal path along the dunes into Carnoustie where our walk ends at the Railway Station.

Transport

As this is a linear walk, it has been timed to fit in with train times at both the start and finish.

Broughty Ferry Station, arriving at 1019 (from the south) and 1024 (from the north)

Carnoustie Station, departing at 1532 (for the south) and 1549 (for the north)

Other train times are available - see Scotrail website for full details of timetable options.

Car parking is available near the waterfront in Broughty Ferry.
