Alney Island & Gloucester Pride
10 people attending
10 places left
The most inland port in the UK, Gloucester has a proud industrial past, intertwined with a rich history that dates back to Roman times. This gentle walk will start by heading out of the city centre past the remains of St Oswald's Priory originally founded in the 9th century and then pass under both the Ham and St Catherine's viaduct still used today by trains on the Gloucester/Chepstow lines. We'll circle our way round the Alney Island nature reserve taking in the point where the Severn merges back together at Lower Parting, before walking through the grounds of Llanthony Secunda Priory (No not the one in Wales) and the old docks in the centre of Gloucester.
The walk coincides with Gloucester Pride and although we will miss the parade there should be plenty of time to enjoy some of the artists on the stage or a wonder through the community stalls before making your way home.
Whilst dogs are normally welcome on most of my events this one may not be appropriate as it appears that only assistance dogs may be welcome on the Pride site.

What to bring
This is a short walk so you probably don't need to bring much.
Walking shoes will be fine (or even trainers) but a waterproof jacket is probably a good idea!
Food & drink
Snacks and something to drink are advised although we will pass a couple of shops
